Four Roses Bourbon has roots dating back to the 1860's in Louisville, Kentucky, and was one of the few bourbon distilleries to survive Prohibition, selling their spirits as medicinal whiskey during this time. The two mash bills and five proprietary yeast strains give the distillery a combined ten
unique recipes that they use to produce a range of flavor profiles in their whiskey, and blend to create this iconic Kentucky Straight Bourbon. We got our hands on a couple of Four Roses barrels, filled them with unroasted green coffee, and aged this for months in this new, charred American Oak. The honey-processed Catuai from Guatemala lends itself well, layering in juicy dark fruit and a sweetness. After months of aging, the coffee takes on the character of the wood and spirits, infusing the beans with the baking spice, vanilla notes coming through in the finished cup.
